 | Christiana Hospital Radiation Oncology Newark, Delaware Sq. Ft.: 10,000 The Christiana Hospital was constructed in 1984 with the radiation oncology wing housing five cobalt radiation machines. These outdated cobalt machines were replaced with five new Seimens (Mevatron) linear accelerator and two new rooms were constructed to facilitate the Siemens (Mevasim) simulators. The rooms' interiors, including all casework, electrical, HVAC and plumbing systems, were removed and replaced. The redisgn of these rooms now creates a pleasant atmosphere for the patients. All support areas (waiting, corridors, dressing rooms, toilet facilities) were also renovated. |

 | Christiana Hospital Laundry Facility Newark, Delaware Sq. Ft.: 45,000 The Christiana Hospital (constructed in 1984) was designed without a laundry area. The hospital would truck their laundry to the Wilmington Hospital Laundry Facility (constructed in 1939). The life expectancy and capacity of this older laundry was long overdue for an upgrade. It was decided that a new facility would be constructed on the Christiana Hospital Campus with the capacity to process laundry for both hospitals. Design consisted of connecting into the existing boiler plant to obtain high pressure steam for washers and steam presses and a pressure reducer to develop low pressure steam for building heating. Two 160 ton chillers were designed to provide cooling and humidity control. The design also required ductwork connections to commercial dryers which were connected to a roof mounted lint collection system and make-up air handler. Electrical system consisted of a substation with a 1500 KVA dry type transformer and 2000 amp, 3 pole, 4 wire, 277/480 volt secondary. |
